  • Here and Now/Yubikiri Update #2

I decided to post a short update.  I'm also debating whether to post up some character sketches, and whether to post them as I progress or at the end.  Oh well.  Love polygon ahead. [Clue: the shape has more than two sides.]

A chilly breeze shook the red, yellow, and brown leaves off the branches of the fall trees. Clouds adorned the sky above and barred the sun's attempts to shine. With time, the sun would shine.

Tobias traversed a road strewn with leaves, which crunched under his shoes as he walked over them. Idly, he stroked a red mark on his cheek which had been a reminder of a few days ago. It was still a bit sore.

He had his book bag slung around his shoulder, though it was relatively empty. It held the usual tools of the student trade: pens, pencils, erasers, calculators, music player, and a few folders. But it also withheld a certain plastic hairbrush that was in need of returning. Tobias only hoped that he would see her there. There was an overbearing urge within himself to apologize for nothing in particular, though she probably thought him a pervert.

Cursing as he rounded a corner, a building in the distance passed into view. It seemed to be a clinic, but that was just Tobias's guess. It only had a sign which said “Clinic” in large, red letters. It was only a guess. The building was situated at the end of the block, next to a small park, though Tobias wasn't sure. There weren't any signs that said “Park” next to the grass.

While gazing at the building from the corner, Tobias noticed a girl with a book bag clenched in her left hand leave the building. She immediately turned, her back to Tobias, and began to run. All he saw was a glimpse of short, raven black hair before she rounded the corner and was out of view. For a moment, he wondered why she was in such a hurry. If they went to the same school, they had plenty of time left. Class started at 7:30, and Tobias was sure it was still 7:15.

That is, until he looked down at his watch and realized it was 7:25.
